Warehouse Cleaning in Ilford (IG)
Dust settles on racking, pallet wrap and cardboard collect in corners, and forklift tyres leave marks across busy floors. Our warehouse cleaning in Ilford keeps storage, loading and welfare areas clean and usable, with cleaning scheduled around your shifts and deliveries across IG. Each visit follows your site rules and an agreed task list, from a single unit to a mixed warehouse and office building.
Call 020 4652 5129 or send us your floor area, layout and the areas that concern you most, and we’ll prepare a free quote.
What we clean on a warehouse visit
We start with the areas your staff use most, then add the jobs that build up over time. Before the first visit, we agree the task list with you so everyone knows what’s included.
Floors, aisles and loading bays
- Sweeping and vacuuming aisles, pick faces and marshalling areas
- Clearing pallet debris, shrink-wrap, strapping and cardboard offcuts
- Mopping or machine scrubbing sealed and painted concrete where the floor suits it
- Working on tyre marks and ground-in dirt along forklift routes
- Cleaning loading bay floors, dock edges and the areas around roller shutters
- Keeping marked pedestrian walkways clear and visible
Racking and storage
Dust on beam tops and shelf faces gets onto stock and into the air whenever the racking is disturbed. We clean racking at reachable levels during routine visits and quote higher levels separately (see below). We don’t move stock or pallets unless that’s been agreed, and we work to your rules on which bays we can enter.
Warehouse offices and welfare areas
Most warehouses include an office, a canteen, toilets and a locker room, often on a mezzanine. We clean desks, touchpoints, kitchenettes, fridges, sinks, toilets, showers and floors in these areas to the standard you’d expect in a dedicated office. If the office is a large part of the building, our office cleaning page explains how we handle desks, screens and shared equipment.
Separate colour-coded cloths are used for toilets, kitchen areas and general surfaces. Cloths from a washroom never go near a canteen worktop.
Dust control and sweeping without moving the dirt around
Dry sweeping a large concrete floor with a stiff broom mostly lifts dust into the air, and it settles again on racking, stock and office desks. To keep it on the floor, we:
- Use vacuums with suitable filtration for fine dust where they’re practical
- Use damp methods or dust-suppressing techniques on dusty floors before sweeping
- Clean from high to low so we don’t drop dust onto floors we’ve already done
- Empty collected dust and debris into your designated waste or recycling points
Concrete that has never been sealed keeps producing dust as the surface wears. Cleaning reduces it, but the long-term fix is sealing or coating the floor, and that’s a job for a flooring contractor.
Machinery-safe cleaning and site rules
We don’t clean live machinery. Conveyors, balers, compactors and production equipment are isolated by your competent person before we clean anywhere near them. If it can’t be isolated, we clean around it and leave guarded areas alone.
On site, we follow your rules:
- Sign-in, induction and any permit arrangements you use
- The PPE you require, typically hi-vis and safety footwear
- Pedestrian routes and exclusion zones around forklift traffic
- No cleaning in battery charging areas unless you’ve cleared it and told us what’s safe
If you need a method statement and risk assessment for the agreed work, ask when you request a quote. We’ll set out the tasks, equipment, products and how we’ll work around your operations, so your site manager can check it before we start.
High-level cleaning, extras and what cleaning won’t fix
High-level work is quoted on its own and isn’t part of a routine visit. Cleaning upper racking, high ledges, light fittings, ducting or roof steelwork usually needs access equipment, trained operators and your authorisation to work at height. We’ll discuss what’s needed and arrange it properly, or tell you where a specialist is the right choice.
Other work agreed separately:
- Deep cleans after a stock clear-out, refit or move
- Machine scrubbing of large floor areas
- Cleaning external windows and high glazing
- Degreasing heavily soiled workshop or vehicle areas
- Cleaning after building work in the unit. Our after builders cleaning service deals with fine plaster and cement dust
When cleaning isn’t the answer
- Chemical or fuel spills need your spill procedure and, where necessary, a licensed specialist
- Suspected asbestos, large accumulations of bird droppings or pest infestations need specialist contractors before cleaners go in
- Damp or mould from a leaking roof will come back until the leak is repaired
- Damaged floor coatings, worn line markings and stained concrete may improve with cleaning but can’t be restored by it
If we come across any of these on a visit, we’ll stop and tell you rather than carrying on.
How warehouse cleaning works with us
- Tell us about the site. Send us the approximate floor area, the layout, opening and shift times, and photos of the problem areas. Larger or busier sites usually need a walkthrough first.
- We agree the scope and quote. You’ll get a task list covering each area and how often it’s cleaned, and the price is agreed upfront before any work starts.
- Access and site rules. We agree keys, fob or alarm codes, sign-in, parking and arrival times. You tell us about restricted zones, inductions and PPE.
- We clean. We bring our own supplies and equipment unless we’ve agreed to use yours. Eco-friendly products are available on request, and we check they’re suitable for each surface first.
- Final check. We go through the agreed tasks before we leave. If anything in scope has been missed, let us know promptly and we’ll arrange to put it right.
What you prepare: clear access to the areas on the list, isolate any machinery near cleaning areas, and tell us which bays or zones are active that day. We’ll handle everything else.
What affects the cost of warehouse cleaning
No two units are priced the same, because the work depends on:
- Size and layout: open floor space, the number of aisles, mezzanines and office areas
- Condition: a first deep clean after months of build-up takes far longer than ongoing maintenance
- Task list: floors only, or racking, welfare areas and loading bays as well
- Frequency: daily, weekly or periodic visits
- Specialist methods: machine scrubbing, degreasing or high-level access
- Access and timing: out-of-hours visits, working around live operations, and restricted zones
See our pricing page for how we put quotes together. We don’t add extras without agreeing them with you first.
Warehouse cleaning contracts in Ilford
Most warehouse customers book regular cleaning rather than one-off visits, because dust and packaging waste return within days. A typical contract combines frequent visits to welfare areas, toilets and offices with less frequent floor and racking work, plus periodic deep cleans.
We schedule visits around your operation wherever we can: early mornings before the first shift, after the last delivery, or at weekends. Short-notice changes depend on our availability, so let us know about peak periods and stock takes as early as possible.
Across IG, we clean everything from small light-industrial units to stockrooms behind shops and larger distribution space. If your building also has shared corridors or entrances, our janitorial services cover daily upkeep alongside the warehouse work.
Why Ilford businesses use us for warehouse cleaning
- A written task list for every area, so cleaning standards don’t depend on who’s on shift
- Vetted, insured cleaners who follow your inductions and PPE rules
- Methods matched to the floor, so sealed, painted and bare concrete each get the right treatment
- Honest scoping, telling you when a job needs a specialist instead of quoting for something cleaning can’t fix
- One point of contact for changes, extra visits and feedback
Warehouse cleaning FAQs
Can you clean while the warehouse is operating?
Usually, yes. We work in zones away from forklift traffic and active picking, following your pedestrian routes. Some jobs, like machine scrubbing busy aisles, are easier out of hours, and we’ll suggest timings when we quote.
Do you provide method statements and risk assessments?
Yes, on request. Ask when you request a quote and we’ll write one for the agreed tasks, setting out the methods, equipment, products and how we’ll work around your site rules.
Is cleaning the top of the racking included?
Not in a routine visit. Racking at reachable levels can be included in the regular task list. Upper levels need access equipment and authorisation to work at height, so we quote and plan them separately.
Will you clean our machinery?
Only once it has been isolated by your competent person and we’ve agreed what’s included. We don’t touch live equipment, and anything specialist, such as degreasing production machinery, is scoped separately.
Do you take away cardboard and pallet waste?
We gather it and put it in your designated waste and recycling points. Taking waste off site needs a licensed waste carrier, so that’s handled through your own waste contract.
Can you clean the warehouse offices and toilets too?
Yes. Most warehouse contracts cover offices, canteens, toilets and locker rooms, and these usually need cleaning more often than the warehouse floor.
How do we get an accurate quote?
Send us the floor area, layout, shift times and photos. For larger sites we’ll arrange a walkthrough so the price reflects the actual work involved.
