What we clean inside and around your oven

We take apart what’s designed to come apart, clean each part properly and put it all back. Spraying the cavity and wiping it doesn’t count as oven cleaning, and that’s not what we do.

The oven itself

  • Racks, shelf supports and side runners, removed and soaked so the carbon softens before we scrub it
  • Oven trays, roasting tins and the grill pan, including the grill pan handle and trivet
  • The inner cavity: floor, sides, roof and back panel
  • The fan cover, removed where it unclips safely, with the fan blades wiped down
  • Door glass, inside and out, and between the panes where the door is built so the glass can come out
  • The door seal, wiped carefully rather than scrubbed, because seals tear easily
  • Controls, knobs, handle and the oven front, finishing with the drawer or plinth underneath

Single, double and range cookers

A deep clean of a single or double oven follows the same method, but a double means two cavities, two sets of racks and usually a grill in the top compartment. Range cookers can have three or more cavities and a wide hob, so they take noticeably longer. Tell us which you have and whether it’s built in at eye level, under the counter or freestanding, and we’ll plan the time properly.

Hob cleaning in Ilford homes

  • Gas hobs: pan supports soaked, burner caps and heads cleaned, and the area around the ignition kept dry so it still sparks
  • Ceramic and induction: burnt sugar and boil-overs lifted with a glass scraper held flat, then a non-scratch finish
  • Older solid-plate and enamel hobs: degreased by hand, with no abrasive pads that would dull the surface

Extractor and cooker hood cleaning

We degrease the canopy, underside and controls, and soak the metal mesh filters to shift the build-up. Charcoal filters can’t be cleaned; they need replacing, and we’ll tell you if yours look spent. Motors, internal fans and ducting aren’t part of an oven clean.

Extras, and where cleaning stops

Microwaves, separate grills, warming drawers and the splashback behind the cooker can be added when you book. If the whole kitchen needs attention, a combined oven and kitchen clean covers cupboard fronts, worktops, sink, tiles and floor in the same visit. Ask for it up front so we can allow the time.

Some problems aren’t cleaning problems:

  • Chipped or worn enamel, rust spots and cracked glass stay as they are once the grease is gone
  • Worn door seals, faulty elements, thermostats or fans need an appliance engineer
  • Catalytic liners (the rough, self-cleaning panels on some ovens) are damaged by scrubbing and strong degreasers. We clean around them and tell you if they’ve stopped working
  • Pyrolytic ovens are cleaned in line with the manufacturer’s guidance, so we don’t strip coatings the high-heat cycle relies on
  • Melted plastic or foil fused to the oven floor may only partly come off without damaging the surface. We’ll say so before we try
  • Commercial kitchen extraction ductwork is a specialist job outside this service

How an oven clean works with us

  1. Send us the details. Photos of the cavity, door glass, hob and extractor are the quickest way to an accurate quote. Add the make and model if you have it.
  2. We agree the scope and price. You’ll know exactly which appliances and extras are included before we book.
  3. Get the oven ready. Switch it off and let it cool fully. Ideally don’t cook in it for a few hours beforehand. Empty the oven and the drawer underneath, and clear a little worktop space nearby.
  4. We clean. We protect the floor and worktop, remove racks and parts, soak them, work through the cavity and glass, then reassemble.
  5. Final check. We go through the agreed tasks with you and switch the oven on briefly to confirm the light and fan run as before. If something in scope has been missed, tell us promptly so we can arrange to put it right.

We bring our own products and equipment. If we need anything from you, it’s a nearby sink, a power socket and somewhere to park.

How long does oven cleaning take in Ilford?

As a rough guide, a single oven in average condition takes around two to three hours, including soaking time. A double oven, a range cooker or years of carbonised grease can take considerably longer, and adding the hob and extractor adds more time on top. We’ll give you a realistic estimate once we’ve seen photos, so you can plan your day around it.

Oven degreasing done safely

We choose products for the surface, not the strongest thing in the van. Non-caustic degreasers handle most domestic ovens well, and we save stronger products for heavy carbon where the enamel can take it. If you’d prefer gentler options, we can use eco-friendly cleaning products on request, as long as they’re suitable for your oven’s finishes.

  • Stainless steel and painted fronts get a test patch first, because some degreasers mark or streak them
  • Product goes where it’s meant to go, not on seals, elements, catalytic liners or electrical controls
  • Everything is rinsed with clean water so no residue is left in the cavity to heat up next time you cook
  • We keep the kitchen ventilated while we work
  • Oven cloths stay separate from anything used elsewhere in the home

Once it’s dry, the oven is ready to use. Some people like to run it empty for ten minutes before the first meal, which does no harm.

What changes the price

  • The appliance: single, double, range or built-in combination
  • Condition: a light annual clean costs less than an oven that’s never been touched
  • The task list: hob, extractor, microwave, trays and splashback
  • Access and parking: stairs to an upper-floor flat, permit zones, or a tight galley kitchen
  • Combined jobs: an oven clean booked with a kitchen or move-out clean is quoted as one job

See our pricing guide for how we build quotes. Your price is agreed upfront before we start.

Ovens in rentals, flats and local businesses

Moving out? Inventory clerks open the oven, and grease on the door glass or racks is one of the most common notes on a check-out report. Booking the oven alongside an end of tenancy clean means one visit and one checklist. A clean oven gives you the best chance at check-out, but no cleaner can guarantee a deposit return.

Living in a flat? Plenty of homes across Ilford are upstairs flats or conversions, often above shops. Let us know about stairs, lifts, entry codes and parking restrictions, and whether you’ll be in or leaving a key. We agree key handling and arrival times in advance.

Pets and children should stay out of the kitchen while products are in use. We’ll let you know when it’s clear.

Cafés, offices and staff kitchens across IG can book domestic-style ovens and hobs cleaned outside opening hours where we have availability. Larger commercial cooking equipment usually needs a walkthrough before we quote.

Oven cleaning FAQs

Do you clean oven trays and racks as well?

Yes. Racks, shelf runners, baking trays and the grill pan are included. We soak them to soften carbon first, which gets better results than scrubbing alone and is kinder to the metal.

Do you use non-caustic oven cleaning products?

Usually, yes. Non-caustic degreasers handle most domestic ovens well. If you’d like eco-friendly products or have allergies or sensitivities, tell us when you book and we’ll check they suit your oven’s finishes.

Can I use the oven the same day?

Yes. Once everything is rinsed, dry and back together, the oven is ready to cook in. We’ll tell you if any part needs a little longer to dry.

Will it look brand new?

Clean, yes. New, not always. Grease and most carbon come off, but scratched enamel, discoloured glass, rust and worn seals won’t. We’ll point out anything like that before we start.

Can you clean the hob and extractor at the same time?

Yes. Hob cleaning in Ilford and extractor cleaning can be added to the same visit. Metal filters are soaked and degreased. Charcoal filters need replacing rather than cleaning.

Do I need to be home?

No. Many customers leave a key or arrange access with a neighbour or agent. We’ll agree arrival times and key handling with you beforehand.

Do you clean ovens for landlords between tenants?

Yes. Landlords and agents often book an oven clean between tenancies, either on its own or as part of a full move-out clean. Send us the property details and access arrangements.
