Kitchen Cleaning Service in Ilford (IG)
Kitchens get dirty in layers: a tacky film of cooking grease on the cupboard doors, limescale around the tap, crumbs packed into the gap beside the cooker. Our kitchen cleaning service in Ilford works through each layer in the right order, for family homes, rented flats, house shares and staff kitchens across IG. You’ll know exactly what’s included before we start, and we’ll leave the kitchen clean where you actually use it.
Send us a few photos or give us a call, and we’ll come back with a free, no-obligation quote.
What we clean in a standard kitchen clean
We work from high surfaces down to low ones, so grease and dust that drop from the top of the units don’t land on a worktop we’ve already finished. Here’s what a typical kitchen clean covers. We’ll adjust the list to your kitchen when we quote.
Worktops, splashbacks and tiles
- Worktops cleared, wiped and dried, including behind the kettle, toaster and bread bin
- Tiled, glass or stainless splashbacks degreased
- Wall tiles and grout lines within safe reach, especially around the hob
- Sockets and switches wiped with a barely damp cloth, never a wet one
Cupboards and worktops
- Cupboard doors, handles and drawer fronts, where fingerprints and grease collect most
- Plinths and kickboards, which catch spills and mop splash
- Tops of wall units where we can reach them safely
Appliance exteriors
- Hob, whether ceramic, induction or gas, including burner caps and pan supports
- Oven door glass (outer face) and control panel
- Fronts, handles and seals of the fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine
- Microwave inside and out, unless it needs a heavier clean
- Kettle, toaster and other worktop appliances
Sink, taps and floor
- Taps and plughole descaled, with the sink, overflow and drainer cleaned
- Floor vacuumed or swept, including along the edge of the units, then mopped with a product that suits the floor
Routine clean or deep kitchen clean?
A routine visit keeps a kitchen in good shape. If there’s months of build-up, grout that’s turned grey or grease behind the cooker, you need a deep clean, which takes longer and is quoted for the extra work. We’ll tell you which one your kitchen needs when we see the photos, so you don’t pay for the wrong job.
Degreasing the cooker hood and splashback
Kitchen grease is cooking oil that has set into a sticky film. It catches airborne dust, which is why the cooker hood often feels furry as well as tacky. Scrubbing harder rarely shifts it. We use a degreaser suited to the surface, give it time to break the film down, then wipe and rinse.
The surface decides the method:
- Stainless steel is wiped along the grain and never scoured, or it’ll scratch and show smears.
- High-gloss and painted doors get soft cloths only. Abrasive pads leave dull patches that won’t polish out.
- Metal mesh hood filters can usually be soaked and cleaned if they come out easily. Charcoal filters can’t be washed and need replacing.
- Glass splashbacks are degreased first, then finished streak-free. Polishing over grease just spreads it.
Extras to agree before the visit
These tasks take extra time or need preparation, so we agree them separately:
- Inside cupboard cleaning. Shelves and drawers wiped out and crumbs removed. The cupboards need to be empty, so either clear them beforehand or ask us to quote for doing it.
- Inside the fridge and freezer. A freezer with heavy ice should be defrosted first, with time for the water to drain.
- Oven interior, racks and trays. This is specialist oven cleaning and is never part of a routine visit.
- Behind and under freestanding appliances, where they can be moved safely without straining pipes or cables.
- Kitchen sanitisation. Disinfecting handles, taps, switches, fridge doors and bin lids, using products left on for the contact time on the label.
- Inside windows, high-level tiles and light fittings.
When cleaning isn’t the answer
Some problems look like dirt but aren’t. Black mould that keeps coming back around a window or behind units usually points to condensation or damp. We can clean the surface, but it’ll return until the ventilation or damp is sorted. Swollen chipboard, etched marble, scorch marks on laminate and peeling cupboard wraps are damage, and cleaning can’t reverse them. If there are signs of mice or cockroaches, call pest control first, then book the clean.
How a kitchen clean works
- Tell us about the kitchen. Photos of the hob, hood, sink and any problem areas help us quote accurately.
- Agree the checklist and price. We confirm the tasks, any extras and the price before anything starts.
- Arrange access. Being home, a key safe or keys with a neighbour all work. We’ll agree it in advance.
- We clean. We bring the supplies and equipment, and work top to bottom.
- Final check. We check the kitchen against the agreed list before we leave. If something in scope has been missed, tell us promptly and we’ll arrange to put it right. We’ll confirm how re-cleans work when you book.
What helps on the day: wash up or load the dishwasher, put away food you’d rather we didn’t handle, and empty any cupboards booked for an inside clean. We’ll move the kettle, toaster and worktop clutter ourselves.
What changes the price
Kitchen quotes depend on:
- Size and layout: a galley kitchen in a flat takes less time than a large kitchen-diner with an island
- Condition: light weekly mess versus a year of grease on the hood and tiles
- The task list: inside cupboards, the fridge and the oven all add time
- Frequency: regular visits stay quicker because the build-up never gets a chance to set
- Access and parking: stairs, permit parking or narrow access all affect the visit
There’s more on how we work out costs on our pricing page. Your price for a kitchen in Ilford is always agreed upfront.
Kitchens in homes, flats and workplaces
Occupied homes. Tell us when you usually cook. We’ll fit around it, and the hob needs to be cool before we degrease it.
Pets. Let us know if you have any. We’ll keep doors shut where asked, and we’ll leave feeding bowls and mats where we found them.
Rented flats and moving out. If you’re leaving a rental in Ilford, the inventory usually checks the oven, hob, extractor and the inside of cupboards closely. That fits better with a full end of tenancy clean worked from the agent’s checklist. No cleaner can guarantee a deposit return, but a thorough kitchen gives you a much better chance at check-out.
Parking. Plenty of streets across IG have permit bays or limited parking, so tell us what’s near you when you book.
Staff kitchens and small offices. Shared kitchens in offices and shops get sticky microwave doors, tea-stained sinks and overflowing bins. We can clean before opening or after closing where the schedule allows.
Doing it properly: products, surfaces and hygiene
- Separate cloths. Kitchen cloths are colour-coded and never used in a bathroom or toilet.
- The right product for the surface. Natural stone such as granite or marble doesn’t get acidic descalers. Oiled wooden worktops get gentle cleaners rather than strong degreasers, and we test an unfamiliar finish in a hidden spot first.
- Contact times. Disinfectant only works if it stays wet for the time on the label, so we don’t spray and wipe straight off.
- Food-safe finish. Where the product instructions say so, we rinse food-preparation surfaces so they’re ready to use.
- Eco options. Ask for eco-friendly products if you prefer them. We’ll check they suit each surface, because a gentle product won’t shift heavy grease as fast.
Tell us about allergies, delicate finishes or products you’d like us to use or avoid before the visit.
Kitchen cleaning FAQs
Is the oven included in a kitchen clean?
No. We clean the oven door and control panel as standard. The interior, racks and trays need a dedicated oven clean, which we quote separately.
Do I need to empty my cupboards?
Only if you’ve booked inside cupboard cleaning. For a standard clean we do the doors, handles and fronts, and the contents stay put.
Can you sanitise my kitchen?
Yes. We disinfect high-touch points and food-preparation surfaces with suitable products, following the contact times on the label. That makes the kitchen hygienically clean, but no domestic clean can make a kitchen sterile.
Will you get the grease off my cooker hood?
Usually, yes. Most grease comes off with the right degreaser and enough dwell time. Grease that has baked on for years can leave marks on painted or plastic surfaces, and we’ll tell you honestly if that’s likely.
Do you bring your own products and equipment?
Yes, unless we’ve agreed otherwise. If you have products you’d like us to use, or ones to avoid, just tell us when you book.
How long does a kitchen clean take?
It depends on the size, the condition and the extras. A well-kept kitchen is much quicker than one with months of build-up. We’ll estimate the time when we quote, based on your photos.
Do you clean office and staff kitchens in Ilford?
Yes. We clean staff kitchens and kitchenettes in offices, shops and other workplaces, and we schedule around your opening hours where we can.
