Move in move out cleaning in Ilford – Ready for handover - Cleaning Ilford

Move In Move Out Cleaning in Ilford (IG)

An empty property shows every mark the furniture used to hide: dust lines behind the sofa, grease above the cooker, limescale round the bath taps. Our move in move out cleaning in Ilford covers both ends of the move. We clean the place you’re leaving so it’s ready for handover, and the home you’re moving into so it’s ready before your boxes arrive, across IG postcodes.

Send us the address, your move date and a few photos, and we’ll come back with a clear quote.

Moving out, moving in: which clean do you need?

Pre move cleaning is for the property you’re leaving. The aim is to hand it back or over in a condition that matches what the landlord, agent or buyer expects. That usually means working to an inventory or an agreed list.

Post move cleaning is for the property you’re moving into. Previous occupants rarely clean inside kitchen cupboards or behind the toilet, so we clean the surfaces you’ll use every day before your plates, clothes and toothbrushes go in.

Some customers book both on the same day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. That works well if you’re moving locally and have keys to both properties.

What’s included in a move in or move out clean

We agree a room-by-room checklist before the visit. A typical clean covers the following.

Kitchen

  • Inside and outside all cupboards, drawers and shelves (they need to be empty)
  • Worktops, splashbacks and tiles, including the grease film behind the hob
  • Hob surface, control knobs and the outside of the oven and extractor hood
  • Sink, taps and plughole, with limescale treated where the surface allows
  • Outside of the fridge, freezer, washing machine and dishwasher
  • Kickboards, plug sockets and light switches
  • Floor, including along the edges and under any appliances we can safely reach

Bathrooms and toilets

  • Bath, shower tray and shower screen, with limescale tackled on glass and taps
  • Toilet inside and out, including the base and the hinges of the seat
  • Basin, vanity unit and the inside of any bathroom cabinets
  • Wall tiles, mirrors and chrome fittings
  • Extractor fan cover wiped where it’s reachable from the floor or a step

Bedrooms, living areas and hallways

  • Inside fitted wardrobes, including shelves and rails
  • Skirting boards, door frames, doors and handles
  • Window sills, interior glass and window frames
  • Radiators, wiped down and dusted behind where accessible
  • Light switches, sockets and visible marks on painted surfaces where they’ll come off safely
  • Vacuuming carpets and mopping hard floors, finishing with the edges and corners

Extras we quote separately

Some jobs need more time, different equipment or a preparation step. We add them to your quote so you know what you’re getting.

  • Oven interiors. Racks, glass door and inside cavity take a proper degreasing session. Our oven cleaning service can be booked alongside your move clean.
  • Inside the fridge and freezer. Only possible once it’s switched off and fully defrosted, ideally the day before.
  • Carpet extraction. Vacuuming lifts surface dirt; hot water extraction deals with ground-in grime. Find out more about professional carpet cleaning and allow drying time before furniture goes back.
  • External windows and anything needing ladders or high-level access.
  • Balconies, patios and garden areas.
  • Blinds and curtains beyond a light dust.

When cleaning isn’t the answer

Cleaning removes dirt. It can’t fix damage or building problems, and it’s worth knowing the difference before you book.

  • Black mould from damp. We can clean surface mould from sealant and tiles, but if it comes back within weeks, the cause is condensation, a leak or poor ventilation. That’s one for the landlord or a surveyor.
  • Worn or damaged finishes. Burn marks on worktops, scratched enamel, stained grout that’s broken down and faded paint won’t clean out.
  • Stains. We’ll treat marks on carpets and surfaces, but some stains are permanent and we won’t promise removal.
  • Hazardous materials. Suspected asbestos, sharps, heavy pest contamination or chemical spills need a specialist. Tell us beforehand and we’ll advise.

Handing back a rented property

If you’re renting, the inventory or the agent’s cleaning requirements decide what “clean” means. Send us a copy if you have one and we’ll build the checklist around it. Agents usually look closely at ovens, limescale, the inside of cupboards and skirting boards.

For a full tenancy handover, our end of tenancy cleaning works to the inventory line by line. We’ll do a thorough job, but no cleaner can guarantee a deposit return or an inventory pass. Fair wear and tear, damage and the landlord’s own judgement are outside our control.

How booking works

  1. Send your details. You can book move out cleaning online by email, or call us. Tell us the property size, the number of bathrooms, the move date and whether it’ll be empty.
  2. We agree the checklist and quote. Photos help us judge the condition. We confirm the scope, price and any extras before anything is booked.
  3. We arrange access. Keys from an agent, a lockbox, a neighbour or you meeting us on the day. We’ll confirm arrival time and who to contact.
  4. We clean. Our vetted, insured cleaners bring the supplies and equipment, unless you’ve asked us to use something specific.
  5. We check the work. Before leaving, we go through the agreed tasks room by room. If something in scope has been missed, contact us promptly and we’ll arrange to put it right. We’ll confirm how re-cleans work when you book.

What you can do before we arrive

  • Empty cupboards, wardrobes and drawers completely
  • Switch off and defrost the fridge freezer at least 24 hours ahead
  • Keep the electricity and water on, as we need hot water and lighting
  • Take out rubbish and leave the bins accessible
  • Tell us about pets, allergies, delicate surfaces or products you’d prefer us to avoid

What changes the price

Every move is different, so we quote each job individually. The main factors are:

  • Size of the property, including bedrooms, bathrooms and separate reception rooms
  • Condition, as a flat left for a year with a hard-water-stained shower takes longer than one that’s been kept on top of
  • Your task list and any extras such as the oven, carpets or fridge interior
  • Whether it’s empty, since furniture slows down floors and skirting boards
  • Access and timing, including parking, stairs, lifts and tight move-day windows

Our pricing page explains how quotes are put together. The price is agreed upfront, so there are no surprises on the day.

Moving day realities in Ilford

Moves rarely run to schedule. Removal vans run late, keys get held at the agent and completions slip into the afternoon. We plan for that.

  • Parking. Many residential streets in Ilford have permit or time-limited parking. Tell us if there’s a bay, a driveway or a visitor permit we can use.
  • Flats and conversions. Flats above shops and converted terraced houses often mean narrow stairs and communal entrances. Let us know about entry codes, concierge desks or lift bookings.
  • Timing with removals. An empty property cleans faster and better. Where possible, book the clean after the last box leaves or before the first one arrives.
  • Carpet drying. If carpets are being extracted, they’ll need several hours to dry. Plan furniture deliveries accordingly.

How we clean an empty property properly

Bare properties expose finishes that furniture has protected for years, so we take care with materials.

  • Right product, right surface. No acidic limescale remover on marble or natural stone. No abrasive pads on stainless steel, glass hobs or gloss cupboard fronts.
  • Test patches. On older paintwork, wallpaper and unsealed wood, we test in a hidden spot first.
  • Separate cloths. Bathroom and toilet cloths never go near the kitchen.
  • Floors left safe. Laminate and engineered wood are cleaned damp rather than wet, as standing water can swell the joints.
  • Eco-friendly options. Available on request, with suitability checked for each surface.
  • Safe for the next use. Kitchen surfaces are rinsed after cleaning products so they’re ready for food preparation.

Frequently asked questions

What’s included in move in cleaning?

Usually everything in the kitchen, bathrooms and living spaces listed above, including the inside of cupboards and wardrobes. Oven interiors, carpet extraction and fridge interiors are extras we add to the quote if you want them.

How far in advance should I book?

As soon as you have a move date. End-of-month dates fill up first. We’ll try to fit short-notice jobs in, but that depends on availability.

Do I need to be there during the clean?

No. Plenty of customers leave keys with the agent or in a lockbox. We’ll agree access, key handling and a contact number beforehand.

Can you clean while the furniture is still in?

Yes, but it’s less thorough. We can’t reach under beds, behind wardrobes or along every skirting board. If you can, book the clean for after the furniture has gone.

Will a move out clean get my deposit back?

No cleaner can guarantee that. We work to your inventory or the agent’s checklist to give you the best chance, but damage and wear are judged separately by the landlord or agent.

Do you bring your own supplies?

Yes. We bring cleaning products, cloths, a vacuum and mops. If you’d like particular products used, or eco-friendly options, tell us when you book.

Which areas do you cover?

We cover homes across Ilford and the wider IG area. If you’re moving between two local properties, we can often clean both.
