Cleaning Checklist in Ilford: What We Cover, Room by Room
This cleaning checklist shows what Cleaning Ilford covers in a regular visit, a deep clean and an end-of-tenancy clean. Use it to choose the right kind of clean, prepare the property and avoid paying for work you don’t need. We agree the final list with you before any visit, because a two-bed flat near Ilford station and a family terrace in Seven Kings rarely need the same plan.
Which Clean Fits Your Property?
Most problems with a booking come from choosing the wrong type of clean. Here’s the short version.
- Regular clean: keeps a lived-in home under control. We work through an agreed priorities list on each visit, focusing on kitchens, bathrooms, floors and surfaces.
- Deep clean: a one-off visit for build-up a regular clean won’t reach, such as grease on cupboard doors, limescale around taps and dust on skirting boards and door frames.
- End-of-tenancy or move-in clean: a detailed clean of an empty or nearly empty property. We follow a room-by-room checklist based on the inventory or the agent’s requirements.
If you’re unsure, send us a few photos and tell us what’s bothering you. We’ll tell you honestly which option makes sense.
What’s Included in a Regular Clean in Ilford?
A regular clean covers the jobs that build up week to week. We agree your priorities at the start, so the time goes on the rooms that matter most to you.
Kitchen
- Wipe worktops, splashbacks and the outside of the hob
- Clean the sink, taps and draining board
- Wipe cupboard and appliance fronts, including the microwave exterior
- Spot-clean fingerprints on the fridge and kettle
- Empty bins and wipe the lids
- Vacuum and mop the floor
Bathroom
- Clean the toilet inside and out, including the base and behind the seat
- Clean the bath, shower tray, basin and taps
- Wipe the shower screen and tiles within reach
- Polish mirrors
- Mop the floor and wipe the skirting near the toilet
Bedrooms and living areas
- Dust reachable surfaces, shelves and window sills
- Vacuum carpets and rugs, and mop hard floors
- Wipe light switches and door handles
- Straighten soft furnishings and make beds if agreed
- Empty small bins
Hallways and stairs
- Vacuum stairs and landings
- Wipe banisters and the front door’s inside face
- Dust radiators and skirting within easy reach
On a routine visit we won’t clean the oven interior, wash external windows or shampoo carpets. Those jobs take dedicated time and are quoted separately.
Deep Cleaning Checklist: The Detail a Routine Visit Doesn’t Reach
A deep clean goes after build-up. It suits homes that haven’t had a proper clean in a while, a spring reset, or a property being prepared for sale or a new arrival. Everything from the regular list is included, plus the following.
Kitchen deep clean
- Degrease cupboard doors, handles and the tops of wall units
- Clean inside cupboards and drawers (these need to be empty)
- Wash the extractor hood and clean or soak the filters where they’re removable
- Clean behind and beneath moveable appliances where it’s safe to do so
- Descale taps and scrub grout lines
- Clean inside the microwave and fridge if they’re empty or cleared
Bathroom deep clean
- Treat limescale on shower screens, heads, taps and tiles
- Scrub grout and silicone edges. We’ll improve them, but mould staining deep in old sealant often needs resealing rather than cleaning
- Clean the extractor fan cover, bath panel and behind the toilet
- Wipe pipework, cabinets and door frames
Every room
- Wipe skirting boards, door frames, doors and radiators
- Dust light fittings and lampshades within safe reach
- Clean inside window frames and runners
- Vacuum under beds and sofas where furniture can be moved
- Remove cobwebs from ceilings and corners
Older Ilford terraces often have high ceilings, picture rails and deep sash runners that collect a surprising amount of dust. Tell us about these when you ask for a quote so we can allow enough time.
End of Tenancy Checklist in Ilford
End-of-tenancy cleaning standards are set by the inventory and the agent, not by the cleaner. Send us the check-in inventory or the agency’s cleaning list and we’ll build our room-by-room checklist around it. Our end of tenancy cleaning page explains the service in more detail.
A typical tenancy checklist includes the following.
- Kitchen: inside every cupboard and drawer, appliance interiors where agreed, extractor hood and filters, the hob, behind removable kickboards where accessible, and the sink and taps descaled.
- Bathrooms: a full descale of screens, taps and tiles, the toilet including the cistern exterior and pipework, extractor covers, and cabinets inside and out.
- All rooms: skirting, doors, frames, switches, sockets, radiators, inside windows and sills, wardrobes inside and out, and floors finished last.
- Extras often asked for by agents: oven cleaning, carpet cleaning and external windows. We quote these separately.
Cleaning can’t repair wear, scuffed paintwork, burns or damage, and no cleaner can promise a deposit return or an inventory pass. A thorough clean does remove the most common cleaning-related deductions, which is why we’d always rather work from the actual inventory than guess.
Move-in checklist
Moving into a property in Ilford, Gants Hill or Barkingside? A move-in clean follows the same room-by-room list, but the emphasis is on the places you’ll use first: inside kitchen cupboards before you unpack, the fridge, bathroom surfaces and floors before furniture goes down. It’s much quicker to clean an empty room than to work around boxes.
Extras We Quote Separately
These tasks need extra time, equipment or drying, so we price them on their own rather than squeezing them into a routine visit.
- Oven, grill and hob interiors
- Carpet and rug extraction cleaning
- Upholstery and mattress cleaning
- External windows and high-level work
- Inside appliances that are still in use
- Balconies, garages and outbuildings
If you’re booking carpet cleaning alongside a tenancy clean, plan for drying. Carpets are usually cleaned last so nobody walks over damp fibres, and you’ll want windows open or heating on afterwards. Allow for this before a check-out appointment.
Recommended Pre-Clean Tasks
A little preparation means we spend our time cleaning rather than moving clutter. Before we arrive:
- Clear surfaces. We’ll work around ornaments, but clear worktops and sills get a much better clean.
- Empty cupboards you want cleaned inside, especially the kitchen units and fridge.
- Defrost the freezer at least a day before a tenancy clean, with a towel down for meltwater.
- Tell us about delicate surfaces like natural stone, unsealed wood, marble or specialist flooring, so we pick the right products.
- Mention pets, allergies or preferred products. Eco-friendly options are available on request, and we check they’re suitable for each surface.
- Confirm parking and access. Many Ilford streets have controlled parking, so let us know about permits, visitor bays or entry codes for your block.
- Leave the electricity and water on for move-out cleans. We can’t clean properly in the dark or without hot water.
We bring our own cleaning supplies and equipment unless we’ve agreed otherwise.
What Happens at the End of the Visit
We finish with a check against the agreed tasks, room by room. If you’re at home, we’re happy to walk through it with you. If you notice something in scope that’s been missed, contact us promptly so we can arrange to put it right. We’ll confirm re-clean eligibility and how soon to report issues when you book.
Checklist Questions We’re Often Asked
Can I change the checklist for my regular visits?
Yes. Your priorities list is yours to adjust. If one week the bathroom needs more attention than the bedrooms, tell us and we’ll rebalance the time.
Do you follow the agent’s own cleaning checklist?
Yes, where you share it with us. We’ll read it alongside the inventory and flag anything that needs a specialist service or isn’t a cleaning issue.
How long does a deep clean take?
It depends on size, condition and how much needs moving. Photos give us a good idea, and we’ll agree the scope and price upfront.
Will you clean inside the oven on a deep clean?
Only if it’s agreed in advance. Oven interiors are a separate task because they need soaking time and specific products.
Which areas do you cover?
We clean across Ilford and the wider IG area, including Seven Kings, Goodmayes, Gants Hill, Newbury Park, Barkingside and Clayhall. Send your postcode and we’ll confirm.
